im one of those people who takes a long time to catch on like i only really fell in love with desperate housewives once they were into the fourth series! im good in school but im just like that. also i dont get jokes for ages!! like everyone is totally over the joke then i finally catch on and im laughing away and eeryone just looks at me and sighs and says something like 'finally!' my friend told me about florence like a year ago but i only really got into the music not long ago. so another of my 'new' discoveries is the yeah yeah yeahs who after listening to some of their stuff i realised ive liked their songs for ages but i just didnt know who sung it all! im sure youve heard them too but if youre sure you havent check out heads will roll which is just very cool! also totally loving nneka at the moment (another late discovery) have a lovely evening x

lost prophets

ive liked rooftops for a long time but i didnt know who sung it until today when i heard it on the radio and the dj said they sing it and it was one of those moments where it suddenly clicks! anyway i think the lead singer has the same voice as the front man of green day, very boring and american. i dont like green day except for boulavard of broken dreams but with lost prophets it seems the music is so loud you dont really hear his horrible voice and rooftops is just so amazing to sing along to. just love it! just listeing to eminem and florence. both so talented in such a different way. btw lost prophets have a brand new single but it doesnt sound very good. x

films i HAVE to see!

i am so excited for this film! (500) days of summer just looks so gorgeous and quirky! i totally love zooey and my friend is desperate to see it coz the guy has a voice like heath ledger who was such an amazing actor and so incredibly sexy! casanova is one of the greatest films ever!

so ive read the book of my sisters keeper which was really good and then i never got round to seeing the film and the thing is im not sure i want to because the guy who plays campbell, one of my favourite characters in the book, looks complete shit and maybe its just better not to see it because the book is always better than the film. but anyway i dont think its in the cinema anymore so ill have to wait for it to come out on dvd and then ill have to make the decision. to live or to die! i love being melodramatic about nothing!!

so this isnt really a tormenting decision! im going to read this book hopefully starting today and finish it by wednesday when im going to the cinema to see this film (the time travellers wife) and im looking forward coz this film just looks breathtaking like all gorgeous scenery and beautiful people! im actually quite excited!

so what music am i listening to at the moment i hear you cry?!!! im listening to hockeys song too fake which is just very sweet and the guys are incredibly cute (check out the music video)!! i just seem very into boy bands at the moment! im loving boys like girls and their song the great escape which is so amazing to sing along to! also fleet foxes who ive mentioned before and friendly fires. check out some of my old posts for more about them. okay have a good day x

the white stripes

okay. new obsession alert!! i have just found the white stripes. actually correction. i have liked these guys for a long time but i only really liked two of their songs, my doorbell and seven nation army. check out both songs btw. anyway so i decided to check out some of their other stuff and its all just amazing!! lovin dead leaves and dirty ground and the hardest button to button! these guys are just amazing!

also just had a manicure at nails inc today but afterwards the nail varnish hadnt dried properly and about 5 of my fingers got smudged! i was/am so upset! so i had to get out my nail polish when i got home and fill in the gaps but it doesnt look as good as before! it was very expensive also!

btw i have forgotten to mention my love for the chili peppers. they really are legends! im just really in the mood for them at the moment so ive been listening to californication on repeat (try it, trust me)!

this is a band that my friend is totally obsessed with but i just sort of like! check out there music video for dont trust me if you wanna know why im just not that into them. they are such idiots! the video starts with them taking off their robes (whats underneath is very disappointing, girls) and just taking themselves basically way too seriously! its just weird like theres no irony! they are totally serious! i dunno check it out

at the moment im just remembering all those 'emo' bands i used to love obsessivly so now i have to talk about the queen of emo, amy lee from evanescence. she has such a beautiful voice! and shes one of these people who sounds so much better live. but there just seems something ungenuine about her. maybe its just me. she has written some amazing song like going under and lithium. some of the best lyrics ever are in lithium. check it out:

my CHEMICAL romance!

my chemical romance are one of those bands who are really such twats. they think they are so cool and gothic but they arent raw enough. they dont mean what they say. those lyrics could be written by someone else. and they are so american and gushy it irritates me greatly. however, in spite of all of this, they have still managed to make 2 incredible songs, welcome to the black parade and teenagers. like jordin sparks they write crap lyrics. but the music is incredible! i go around singing the whole time 'ill caaarry on, ill carry ooon, ill carry on......'! can i also just say that gerard way looks best with the white blonde hair! it just suits him better! eminem also looked better with his fake blonde hair. when i saw his him on the jonathan ross show i was soo upset that hed cut it all off! so lesson of the day: fake blonde is sometimes the best way to go!

jordin sparks

jordin sparks is one of the few singers i like despite the bad lyrics! i am such a lyrics girl its ridiculous! i never really thought much of her music until i saw the music video for no air and just loved how she and chris brown got SOO into the singing it was ridiculous! check out the video on youtube. anyway me and my cousin spent ages standing in front of a mirror and singing that song like they do in the video! try it its so much fun! i just love how she tries to sing those crap lyrics like they actually mean something which reminds me of leona lewis (where the hell did she go?!). every move jordin sparks makes in her music career is so calculated. you can imagine a load of men in suits sitting around a table deciding what she is going to say in her next interview! shes like the opposite if happy-go-lucky!

PINK

pink is amazing! i just love the woman! she has the exact opposite voice of dido. dido=pure, like an angel pink=raw, like shesshes breaking physically and emotionally. when she sings stuff like who knew, sober and please dont leave me you can hear the pain in her voice so much. it gets me everytime when she sings the line 'and i forgot to say about how beautiful you really are to me' in please dont leave me. her voice has just got better and better over time. when i was younger i loved just like a pill and who knew. i used to listen to who knew on repeat the whole time and wierdly im still not bored of it! her voice is just so much more raw at the moment its like someone had a good go at trying to break it but didnt, leaving a raw mess. sorry thats a horrible image! but you get what i mean. anyway i love pink and she has such a beautiful voice. listen out for her because whatever she comes up with next, its gonna be good!

Introduction and explanation to my eminem obsession

hey there my name is rebecca and this blog is all about my obsession with music old and new!

i cant be bothered for much of an introduction about myself but i will write about my main musical obsessions so my biggest obsession is with the great eminem

he really is a legend. let me explain why i love the guy. i first discovered him when i was about nine or ten when i would just listen to crap adio with crap rnb but then when i heard eminem i thought he was so much fun. he has fun with his music and his voice. at that innocent age i didnt know what a massive thing it was for him to be coming onto the scene him being white and all

so anyway as i got older i started really listening to the lyrics and i realised what a lyrical genius he is! so anyway now as ive got older i just love the guy more and more and im loving him being on the music scene again! lovin beautiful by the way. it really is one of the best songs hes ever written. listen out for the lyrics especially the one about 'hiding behind the tears of a clown'

hopefully ill write about the killers tomorrow but we'll see
